Ebooks and Salespages

I'm so not a copywriter, but I've written 2 new ebooks and I've been playing around with salespages for them this past week. I usually get Elizabeth of www.strategyadservice.com to write my sales copy for me, cos she's brilliant, but this past month she's been really busy, so I thought I'd give her a break and try myself.

I started wtiting up a page for my book "Focus: The Key To Success" but I didn't do too brilliantly on the first try. The copy was bland and read more like a report than a salespage. Check it out here: http://annamarketing.com/FTS/Focus.html

I hopped along into the Warrior Forum and asked for hints and tips, and got quite a few good replies. I re-did the page a bit, and now it looks like this http://annamarketing.com/FTS/Focus2.html (you can order the book from either of the pages)

Feel free to let me know what you think. I'm off to make a start on the copy for my other new ebook "32 Ways To Keep The Kids Occupied". It's a great time of year to launch this one, with everybody being in the middle of the school holidays and suchlike. 32 great boredom busters that me and my kids often do ourselves. I'll let you know when the page is ready ;~)

New Blogs and Ebooks

It's been a busy week here on the internet marketing front, but also on a personal level. I've started a new blog here about our life and living with an ADHD child.

I also wrote a new booklet about the same thing, it's a pdf file, feel free to download it and pass it on to anybody who you think might find it interesting. (rightclick the image and choose "save as")

Apart from that I'm busy writing yet another book, which should be ready very soon. I won't say what it's about just yet, but it's definitely going to be a good (and helpful) read ;~)

The adsense ads are starting to pay off, I even added them to NJAE and my new ADHD blog, so if you're looking to make some extra cash, the adsense affiliate program is definitely worth looking into.

It's nice to see that the blogs are starting to get traffic too. I love it when people post comments, it makes it a bit more worthwhile knowing that people are actually visiting, reading and finding informative posts.

Finding Articles

Every week I search the net for 2 new articles for my ezine. I don't usually start finding any of them until Wednesday or even Thursday. I think that is because I like to make sure my content is truly fresh and new.

I find that it's really important to actually READ the articles thoroughly before using them to make sure there is good, useful info in them. It also helps to spell-check them, as not all writers see their own small mistakes.

Here are a few of the places I subscribe to that send me fresh articles every day:

Life Goes On and Business As Usual

As a country we're outraged, yeah, but that's about it. Heck, even G8 started up again soon after the explosions, because that's "more important". It's good though. Not showing weakness at times like this makes these horrible acts less effective. We just give them the finger and say "Hey! You can take our lives but you can't take our freedom!"

Some people are scared, others will probably never use the underground again, but it'll be a case of "life goes on" just as it always is ;~)

So it's back to "business as usual" for people all over the UK, including me. I even got invited to be a guest writer on Paul Shorts blog over at http://www.selfhelpdaily.com/

The conference with Paul was great. Everybody who turned up learnt some new things. I think even Paul himself may have learnt a thing or 2 (but not about blogs..lol)

I'll definitely be doing more conferences like that one in the future.

We are thankful...

We finally received word that my cousin is ok. Perfectly fine even. She hadn't gone to work today, although she couldn't explain why. No matter. I'm glad she stayed home and is safe. We're extremely lucky. My heart goes out to all those who were not so lucky. I am so sorry.

I'm still amazed at how "few" people were actually killed, maimed and injured by these atrocious attacks. The London underground carries around 3 million people per day, and the buses do approximately 5 and a half million journeys per day.

The emergency services have done a brilliant job all day, we can probably thank all of the "practice runs" they've been doing in case anything like this should ever happen.

When I see how little panick there has been and how calmly everything has been dealt with, it reminds me of why I was always proud to be British. It hurts, of course it does. It's been a terrible ordeal for everybody involved, and it will hurt for a long time to come, but I do believe it will make our country stronger.

London Calming Down

The buses in zone one in central London are back in action. They've been suspended all day. Docklands Light Railway Service trains are running again too http://www.tfl.gov.uk/dlr/ with most mainline stations having been re-opened.

Kings Cross mailnline station trains are still suspended.

I'm SO glad I wasn't the one who had to make that decision, especially now that it's peak commuting time again

For people trying to get home, there's some London travel info here: www.bbc.co.uk/london

Number of explosions down to 4

There are so many conflicting stories, as is always the case in cases like the London Bombings.

We've now been told that there were only actually 4 bomb attacks, 4 underground and one on a double decker bus. There seems to have been confusion as to the number of explosions because of people escaping from multiple underground stations.

I still find it totally amazing that there are so few casualties and fatalities reported. I mean, London at peak commuting times is crammed full with literally millions of people.

I'm still waiting for news on my cousin, it's almost impossible to get in touch with anybody in the area.

My thoughts are with all friends and family of all victims.

Anna

Latest Fatality Count

So far we have been told that it has been confirmed that 10 people have died at Kings Cross, number rising. Also confirmed 2 dead at Aldgate East Station.

Reports coming in of multiple decapitaions and mass serious injuries suffered by thos on the bombed bus.

Hospitals are struggling to cope with the number of injured people from the 7 explosions, so it sounds like there are quite a few.

My heart goes out to all involved.

Blair Condemns Terrorists

Blair is speaking again, every member of the G8 Summit has said they will stand by him in the fight against terrorism.

Blair says he "will not allow violence to change our values" and that todays bombings "will not defeat the fight against terrorism"

The markets fell rapidly as soon as news of the explosions was known, as can only be expected.

Read the story here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4659349.stm

London Explodes

Sitting here watching breaking news about at least 7 explosions in London this morning. Worried about my cousin, she commutes and was in the area at the time of the explosions. she calls home every day when she gets to work, no phonecall yet.

Above ground looks bad, I can't imagine how bad it must be in the underground.

News and updates here: CNN.com The BBC News site is pretty overloaded right now, so hard to get it to load.

Email Netiquette Using BCC in Outlook Express

As promised in my previous post, here's a simple how-to for creating blind carbon copy emails in Outlook Express. Let me know if it helps you.

Anna

Email Netiquette Using BCC in Outlook Express

(C) Copyright 2004-2005 by Anna-Marie Stewart

How many times have you received an email with a whole bunch of other email addresses in the To: line? Or are you guilty of doing the same? The problem with adding lots of email addressess in the To: line of an email is that every single addressee also ends up with a copy of each email address.

This in itself isn`t really bad if you`re 100% positive that nobody will use the email addresses to send spam to, but face it, can you really be that sure? I, for one, find it really frustrating to know that all kinds of people have received my most personal email address just because somebody doesn`t know how to BCC (or Blind Carbon Copy) an email.

The worst of it is, I`ve even seen big companies do this when I`ve received mails from them. If I were any less honest I could just pick up each and every one of the email addresses in the mail and create a huge mailing list for myself. Yukk!

There`s a really easy way to blind carbon copy emails in Outlook Express which means that all of the addresses you send the email to will be hidden and you won`t be classed as "one of those people who shares email addresses with the world and his uncle".

How to Blind Carbon Copy (bcc) emails:

1. Click Create Mail
2. Select "View" from the message menu
3. Make sure "All Headers" is checked
4. A Bcc: field will appear beneath the Cc: field
5. Put your own email address in the To: field
6. Add all recipients addresses to the Bcc: field
7. Create the mail as you normally would and hit send

It`s that simple. Practice a little email netiquette and you`ll be sure your friends and contacts don`t get mad at you. You will receive a copy of your own mail, and the people who receive the email won`t even know you`ve sent it to multiple addressees.

Are You Guilty?

Man I hate this kinda stuff, it just really boils my blood!

Yesterday I received an email from a fellow member of a forum that I use. The mail was sent to 30 people in the forum. I now have the email addresses of each and every one of those 30, and they have mine.

Just a heads up here: if you're going to send emails to multiple people, PLEASE make sure you learn how to do a blind carbon copy so that the email addresses aren't readily available to everybody who gets the mail. Especially now that it is so easy to report emails as spam and every email address in the message and domain attached to them could all be put on black lists.

Also, it's not so much about the mails soliciting sales etc (for me anyway), but more the fact that the email addresses of every individual was made available to us all.

Heck, now what if they all started mailing each other with " A friend/contact" sent me your mail address, maybe we can work together or you can join my affiliate program/buy my products/agree to be added to my list etc.

A lot of the addresses in the mail I received were domain addresses, which would be so easy to get shut down if the "wrong" person was having a bad hair day.

So again, please people, DO learn how to bcc your mails, and if you need help with learning that then watch out for my next post ;~)
