How To Promote A New Forum
By Anna-Marie Stewart
Forums can be very good at generating traffic to your main site. You get focused content written for you and if it's your own forum you can run offers etc to your "list" of members. Of course, you need to get visitors to your forum, just as you need to get visitors to any other site you have. So how do you promote a forum to gain members?
Do a search on google for free advertising forums. A lot of them have places where you can announce your new forum. Do another search on google for 'forum submit url' or 'announce forum' that should also bring up places where you can tell people about your forum.
Add your forum to your sigfile in all your outgoing mails. Also in your sigfile in other forums.
Here are a few places you can check out for submitting your forum

Populating your forum with posts will help it get picked up in the search engines, and give it some way of drawing people in...
Just google "paid forum post" or "forum posting service" and a bunch of companies should come up.
There are some reviews on various paid posting services here:

Just a few ideas that I've just started using myself for my own new forum. It does work, I've had 87 members join mine in less than 2 months. Not a huge growth, but better than a kick in the teeth
I also found this the other night. It seems to be chock-full of info on creating and managing forums, and deserves looking into: http://www.theadminzone.com/index.php
