How To Promote A New Forum

Forums can be very good at generating traffic to your main site. You get focused content written for you and if it's your own forum you can run offers etc to your "list" of members. Of course, you need to get visitors to your forum, just as you need to get visitors to any other site you have. So how do you promote a forum to gain members?

Do a search on google for free advertising forums. A lot of them have places where you can announce your new forum. Do another search on google for 'forum submit url' or 'announce forum' that should also bring up places where you can tell people about your forum.

Add your forum to your sigfile in all your outgoing mails. Also in your sigfile in other forums.

The Many Benefits of Starting an Internet Home Based Business

Internet businesses being run from home are booming… and they are set to expand in coming years as fast economically growing countries come on board to a much larger extent.

The house, the car, the TV, the microwave, the computer and the internet and all the benefits that such technologies can bring, not withstanding status within their given society.

In addition, our own society has become much more familiar with the internet and the many benefits it brings. Expanded communication with friends and family, social forums and discussion lists on all sorts of topics, even dating is now a huge industry online.

This familiarity is now facilitating a trust of all things internet related and thus people are turning to purchases online with much less trepidation than years gone past.

Total people shopping online have gone from 66 million in 2002 to an estimated 136 million in 2007.

The fact that people are looking for such a wide variety of information has allowed thousands of solopreneurs working from home to earn more than better incomes. Incomes are being made from people offering information on their hobbies, their current business skills and many other tangible and intangible products.
Even people without their own products are bringing in profits by selling other companies goods and services, or even just selling advertising.

The potential for already established offline businesses is also huge. A good example of this is the tourism industry whereby most of the major players such as airlines, governments of major tourist destinations and some major hotel chains have been quick to capitalize on internets growth.

However there are a staggering amount of businesses of varying sizes that are missing huge opportunities to substantially increase customers and profits by developing and marketing their business online. This includes hotels, restaurants, clubs, sporting, leisure and health services just to name a few.

The fact is, no matter your current business size – online or off, your current experience with business – a lot or none, whether you wish to have a business working from home or start with an office, there is no rival for the potential of income or growth in any form in the world today.

Low Initial Monetary Outlay or Business Setup Costs...

Cost to start a restaurant? $100,000 to $1 million.
Cost to setup a shop in a major shopping centre? Maybe a little less than the above.
Cost to start a service business from home, say a carpenter? All your tools, advertising and insurance plus many extra’s, maybe 10 to $20,000.

How much to start an online business?

A website (domain name) and hosting - $100 dollars a year.

However, if you have no experience with the internet there will be additional costs such as learning materials and additional software. All up you may spend anywhere between 1 to $5,000.

The fact is, the experimentation and implementation of an online business or web based business is affordable for the average working person, something that cannot be said of traditional business due to the usual immense start up costs.

Even the running costs of an internet business are so little compared to traditional costs. Then there are the advertising and marketing costs to consider, much lower than what offline business pays and something that they are even yet to fully comprehend.

The Ability to Work on Your Business Part Time...

I have left this section to the last, why?

It represents why many people don’t go into business…. risk!

In most cases building and starting a business means taking many risks. A loan may be required, extensive experience in your business field, applying yourself to the business full time without backup income or another job, putting on employees and the list goes on.

An internet home based business can be started and established while still working a full time job.
It therefore eliminates risk from your daily life.

The mortgage payments, the kids schooling, the income to the house and your current lifestyle are in no way threatened. The business can be worked on part time from home, at the point that it establishes enough income to live off; your full time work can then be terminated.
If ever there was a time where the initial outlay in terms of money, time and risk to start a business was the least, now is that time and the internet is the platform.

How 'Available' Are You?

The internet can be pretty scary at times. Do you realize how easy it is to access your personal information? Your phone number, name, address? Even get driving instructions on how to get to your location (if you`re in the USA)??

Did you know that www.google.com works as a telephone directory?? If you`re in the USA, anybody can find you through their search engine. If you've got an unlisted number, this won't apply to you:

Go type your phone number into the search box in this format 555 444 1212 (no dashes or anything). It'll bring up your full name and address, and it'll give you 2 map links. The yahoo map will even give driving instructions on how to get to where you're at!!

There should be a telephone icon next to your listing. If you don't want to be listed, click on that and request to be removed from the service.

This one's for USA only, too: Free Internet Access to Public Records

Listed are over 800 state, county, city and federal (court) URL's where you can access public record information for free. www.CrimeScreen.com

Don't think you're out of the woods just because you don't live in the United States. There are worldwide lists too.

Ok, here's, this one is reliant on people giving accurate info though. Do you own your own registered domain? go do a "WhoIs" here: www.netsolutions.com Brings up a lot of info, huh?

So how can you stop your personal information from getting broadcast on the web? Maybe you can't, totally, but there are a few guidelines, that if followed, will make you less 'available'.

Make sure your phone number is UNLISTED! A lot of online phonebooks are based on a database used by the telephone company. Which in turn leads to your address.

Use a web based email program instead of the one provided by your ISP. Your ISP provided email address should only be given to your most trusted friends and family. This is because your ISP has your address, and possibly your banking information if your are allowing them to bill you automatically.

Get some software to make your websurfing anonymous:
www.anonymizer.com
www.articsoft.com/
www.inetprivacy.com/

Use a firewall program if you aren't behind one already. That way the information on your computer can't be accessed by another online computer without you being prompted for permission.

So what if your information's already out there? What can you do about it? Well it's a long, hard job, but it CAN be done, by actually using search engines to find your personal information, and then using the remove features supplied by each particular website or writing the webmaster and requesting that he remove the info.

There you have it, you're 'available' but you don't HAVE to be unless you want to.

Just about everything to do with marketing online is sold using USD currency, have you noticed? I like to know exactly how much I'm paying for things and converting from USD to GBP manually can be a pain in the rear end.

I searched for a currency converter for a long time until I found this free one a few years ago, and I've never used another one since. It's really simple to use, and works with just about every currency I can think of. Check it out here: http://www.xe.com/ucc/ (RightClick to open in new window).

That meant I had to know exactly what the packages weighed so I could let my customers know what they were paying for, so I used this weight converter: http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/weight (Unfortunately, although this was the most comprehensive one I found, the site does have a few popups on it, so make sure you turn your pop up blocker on before you visit if that type of thing annoys you.)

After doing the makeover of my blogs (choosing new templates) I also did a makeover of my whole NJAE site over at annamarketing.com and it definitely seems to be for the better. I've had some great feedback about both of them and I'm quite pleased with the changes.

This week I added a subscribe box to my blog, for any visitors that might be interested in subscribing to Not Just Another Ezine, and it's brought me a few new subscribers.

A good friend of mine was also nice enough to send out a mail to his forum members and tell them about my new forum. How To Bring Large Amounts of Traffic To Your Blog

Have you been blogging, but not too many people are visiting it? Are you waiting for those comments to come flooding in, but all you get is spam comments? I am going to tell you just a few things you can do, to bring in steady traffic to your blog.

Many new bloggers start a blog but get easily discouraged because they have no readers reading it. Well, the readers can't read your blog, if they can't it. They also won't read it, if it's not something they want to read.

My biggest tip I will give here is, give your readers something they want to read. If you write a post that people enjoy reading, they are going to reward you by coming back. Never forget that your readers are real people, make your posts conversational. When you are blogging, remember to keep each post to one topic only and include keyword rich words in your title. Be sure to post to your blog often. Search engines love blogs and if you are posting daily, your blog is going to be indexed by the engines even faster and more frequently.

My next tip, if you are looking for really large amounts of traffic, I would like to suggest optimizing your posts for the search engine. You will want to throw a little SEO into your postings. You can do this easily by doing the following:

1. Use your primary keywords in the title of your post

2. Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post

3. Use your keywords in your anchor text of links in the body of your posts

If you follow those three steps above, you have a better chance of your posts being properly indexed by the search engines. This means more traffic for you.

My next tip, submit your blog to as many directories as possible. If you haven't done so, make sure your blog has a RSS feed. If you are using Wordpress, it will create a feed for you. If you don't know much about feeds, visit http://www.feedburner.com You can submit your blog url and it will give you a RSS feed address to use. I use Feedburner with my blogs hosted on Blogger. When submitting your blog and RSS feed to directories, make sure you try to submit to the big directories like Technorati, Yahoo, DMOZ, MSN, etc. Here is a large list of blog directories you can submit to:

My next tip, add a option to subscribe to your blog so your reader is updated by email when you make a new post. This is a great way to get readers to come back to your site. I use a service from FeedBlitz. You can signup for a free account at Feedblitz, then login to your account and grab some code to place into your blog template. In return, you are able to capture your subscribers names and email addresses. When you update your blog, all your readers will get an email letting them know. Don't pass up this way to bring traffic to you.

My next tip, create inbound links to your blog. You can do this easily by visiting other blogs and posting comments. You can trackback to other's blogs in your posts. If you have other blogs or websites, link to your blog within those. Basically, post your link to as many places as you can.

My last tip, ping ping ping. Make sure to ping your blog to as many as the services as you can. I use a free service at Pingomatic http://pingomatic.com At Pingomatic you can type your blog url, then select the service you want to ping. They have about 20 services you can select. This saves a ton of time because you can ping all the selected services at the same time.

Blogs or more specifically... Niche Blogs are simply blogs that are topic focused and target a specific market and/or niche.

More importantly though, these blogs contain targeted information that their target market is searching for.

This is KEY.

As an affiliate marketer we are always told that information, whether its an article, review, ebook, ecourse, report, mp3 or pod cast, is a key Pre-Selling tool
before your potential customer decides to buy what it is that you're offering.

This is where Niche Blogs come into play because of there many capabilities and functions.

The biggest advantage Blogs have is they give you the ability to syndicate your content and/or information through a technology called RSS (Real Simple Syndication).

The types of content you are able to syndicate are as follows:

- Articles

- Product Reviews

- eBooks

- eCourses

- Special Reports

- Mp3 Files

- Steaming Video(A.K.A Pod Casting

Are you starting to see the advantages to blogs or more importantly, having a network of affiliate Niche Blogs?

Effective Marketing For The Webmaster
(Free Advertising Methods)

Throughout my experience in Marketing, I have found that simply placing ads in free classified sites, FFA (free for all), and participating in safelists does not work anymore. It used to, but that is not the case any longer. I also have found out that you do not have to pay for any advertising for it to be effective.

The key to "Effective Marketing" is creativity. If you start really thinking about how you might go about promoting your business/website, then you might be surprised at what you come up with. Here are some free methods to get you started. You need to make Google/Yahoo/MSN or any favorite search engine a good friend. Use these to your advantage for finding the following places below.

1) Work At Home/Business Forums or Message Boards:
Find and create accounts at various work at home or business message forums. After creating your account then proceed to create your signature. A signature is a block of text at the end of a message that states your name and your business/website/affiliate program. Please read the posting rules at all forums. Some do not allow signatures...and some do not allow posting your business ad. Always be careful of these rules...you could be banned. Signature advertising in forums/message boards has found to be very effective.

2) Directories:
Find and sign up with various business directories. Add your business/website to them. There are tons of these that do not require a reciprocal link back. You will find the occasional ones that require a fee...just pass those up and go on to the next one, as there are several. For the ones that do require a link back, it is advisable to choose the ones with a high page rank.

3) Link and Banner Exchanging:
There are many, many webmasters that are willing to exchange links/banners with you. This method of advertising is called networking and is really a great free way to promote your business. You can let webmasters know that you would like to exchange links with them through various forums, OR...you can look up websites (that relate to your business), and simply email the webmaster (site owner) and propose that you would like to exchange links or banners. Always keep up with your emails and follow up with a polite reply. You will be pleasantly surprised at the responses you will get.

4) Ezines and Newsletters:
Ezines and newsletters are basically online magazines. You can subscribe to them and enter your ad and affiliate program or website URL. Most of these are free to subscribe to, and also free to enter your ad. These ezines/newsletters have a large membership base. By using this method of advertising, your business/website would reach a large audience.

5) Offline Advertising:
This is where you will use your creativity. There are literally endless offline advertising ideas that you can use. You can make up flyers, business cards, letters, and give them out to friends and relatives. You can post them at grocery stores, laundry mats, department stores, libraries, theatres, schools...basically anywhere where it is allowed.
One example of an idea:
If you are at a theatre...leave some of your business cards in the restroom. You might be surprised at who will look and pick them up. Just use your imagination...have fun and be creative.

6) Articles:
You might try writing some articles that relate to your business or website. Many ezines and newsletters that you subscribe to let you post your written articles. And again, this method would be free of charge. At the end of your article, mention the URL of your business or website.
