10 Ways To Get Incoming Links To Your Website

10 Ways To Get Incoming Links To Your Website
By James Woolley

Obtaining incoming links to your website fulfills two main
objectives. Firstly it increases the traffic you could
potentially receive to your site because the more links you
have the more traffic you should receive, and secondly, by
obtaining links from pages with a good page rank you can
increase your own page rank which, although not the deciding
factor, will help boost your ranking in the search engines.

Listed below are ten ways in which you can obtain these
sought-after links.

1. Exchange Links With Other Websites

This process, known as reciprocal linking, is common place
on the internet, and is something most webmasters do.
However, while it's something you should do, it's important
to note that search engines place more importance on one-way
links than two-way or reciprocal links.

2. Submit Your Website To Directories

This is a good way of getting one-way links to your site (if
a reciprocal link is not required). There are numerous
directories you can submit to, offering both free and paid
submissions. When deciding on whether paid submissions are
worth it, you should look at the page where your link is
expected to appear and see if it has a reasonable page rank,
and the number of other links that appear on that page, with
the fewer the better.

3. Build A Network Of Websites And Interlink Them

When building multiple websites it makes sense to interlink
them, preferably from a home page link for maximum benefit.
This can be very beneficial if each of your websites is on a
different server, but be careful if they are hosted on the
same server, as the search engines will think you're
deliberately manipulating their results, and will most
likely prevent you from achieving higher rankings.

4. Write Articles

This is a very powerful method of obtaining a lot of
incoming one-way links to your site. By submitting your
articles, which include the all important resource box with
the link to your site, to multiple article directories you
can pick up backlinks from not only these article
directories but from other websites who pick up your
articles and include them on their website or blog.

5. Write Press Releases

Writing a compelling news-worthy press release about your
site or related topic, can also result in multiple websites
and news sources picking it up and linking to your site.
This is a very effective way of obtaining numerous one-way
links very quickly, but doesn't offer the long-term benefits
that articles do.

6. Create A Blog

Blogs are very easy to create with multiple websites
offering free services, so there is no excuse for not
creating a blog related to and linking to your main website.
You could post anything - your thoughts, articles, or
affiliate program reviews, for example, but make sure you
include a link to your site in the links section, and at the
end of each post if appropriate.

7. Leave Comments On Blogs And Guestbooks

You've got to be careful with this method that you don't
abuse it and start spamming other people's blogs or
guestbooks. Leave legitimate comments, and make it look like
you actually have something to contribute. For example, just
saying “Great Blog!” and then leaving your link is rightly
considered to be spam, and will also damage your reputation
in the long run.

8. Post On Forums That Allow Sig Files

Sig files are the line(s) that appear at the bottom of each
message and act as a discreet way of advertising your site.
You won't get a great deal of benefit in terms of page rank,
as most forums do not have a high page rank for their
threads, but you will build up a good number of links, and
as forums generally tend to get spidered by the search
engines regularly, they will follow the links to your site
and subsequently spider your site on a regular basis.

9. Write Testimonials

By writing and submitting testimonials to websites that you
have previously purchased products or services from, you can
get high-quality links to your site, often from the home
pages of the sites in question.

10. Buy Links

The final way to obtain incoming links is by simply buying
them. This can have a dramatic effect on your page rank and
subsequently your search engine rankings if you can get
links from PR6+ sites, however the only problem with this is
that most links for sale are often for a set period of time,
usually a month, and so you have to keep buying them to
maintain your higher page rank and rankings.

I am looking for an affiliate program....

.... but something very specific. I've started a new blog about parenting and kids and need to find an affiliate program suited to it.

So: the product has to be an info product (preferred), one tier only and it has to pay via paypal cos I personally don't like ClickBank.

If you have an affiliate program for something like this, or know of somebody who does, then please gimme a yell.

I'm not interested in any other type of affiliate program at this point in time.

Quick Reminder about The FREE Ebay Video

A few days ago I told you about a very special video from my friend Chris Vendilli. Chris has a website called 3 Rivers Auctions that is absolutely jam packed with eBay tools, tips, strategies, info, & secrets.

If you don't remember it, or didn't get round to reading the mail, here's a quick re-cap: - Chris took one of his very favorite eBay secrets and created a short 7 minute video that will show you EXACTLY how to use one of his sneaky methods to make a very nice extra side-income on eBay.

It doesn't matter what you're currently selling... ANYBODY can use this little trick to take advantage of other seller's mistakes and scoop up hot-selling items for a tiny fraction of their actual value, and then turn right around and sell them for HUGE profits. I wish the video had been around back when I was selling those wedding dresses and shoes on Ebay!

In case you still haven't done so yet, I just wanted to remind you to check out this great free eBay training video right now by clicking on the link below:

http://tinyurl.com/fmvuj

Special offers as good as this one that are completely FREE don't come around too often so I really hope you will TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Just remember, it was brought you by NJAE Oh, and don't forget to let me know what you think

*** FREE EBAY TRAINING VIDEO ***

In my quest of finding good stuff for my NJAE subscribers I recently met a guy, Chris, from the U.S. who is giving out some amazing eBay tips that some people are charging an arm and a leg for!

For example, this young man created an eBay training video that will show you EXACTLY how you can make big time profits off of other seller's mistakes on eBay and EVEN put eBay to work for YOU by setting up some little-known options in order to get email notifications anytime a seller goofs up and and is waiting to be exploited.

The video is only seven minutes long and I worked out a special deal with Chris so that you could watch it completely for F.R.E.E.! All you have to do to watch this free video is visit the link below:

Interviews Editing Almost Complete

Thanks to all who have taken part in the Real Life Marketer Interviews Volume II project, it's getting really exciting now.

I'm at the final stages of editing so it's getting close to completion.

Unfortunately the pdf brander doesn't seem to be getting any closer to being done, so I'll probably be branding the copies manually for all JV partners, but that's ok, it's going to be worth it.

I now have 41 completed interviews, 16 case studies and 32 pictures.

I can't seem to find a JV script that I want so I'm hoping to sell lots more copies of my Focus ebook, my Forget The Hype! ebook and my 32 Ways To Keep Kids Occupied ebook so that I can buy John Delaveras JV Manager (any feedback on that one is greatly appreciated).

The salespage is just about done, with new header and ebook cover and it's the start of the summer holidays here so everythings getting pretty hectic LOL, thankfully all 4 kids are going to France for 3 weeks on Tuesday. Woohoo!

Testing New Forum

Thanks to the survey I created last week with FlyCatcherPro I have decided to try my hand at running a forum on my site. I've been running one on AdlandPro for free, but it's kinda limited in what you can do with it. so although that's been fun and interesting these past couple of weeks I've decided it's time to try one of my own for real here:
Real Life Marketers Get-Together Forum

With any luck I might even get it to be really busy at some point in time ;)

Choosing colours for your business website.

Choosing colours for your business website.

When running a business online, one of the first things you’ll be wanting to test out for your new website is which colour combinations look best together. To make it easier for you, I’ve collected a couple of cool links to help you choose a colour scheme for your website.

Try this free colour scheme generator:
http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html

Color Wheel Pro shows colour schemes on real examples. When you rotate the colour wheel, colours in the preview image change immediately.
Free download: http://www.color-wheel-pro.com

This one gives you a colour chart WITH their codes, both hex and rgb. Can be pretty useful at times, also good for testing combined colours.

Top 10 Tips for WinXP Users

Top 10 Tips for WinXP Users
By Anna-Marie Stewart

Are you new to WinXp? Just upgraded, or gotten a new computer maybe? Or you might have friends and contacts who use it and you want to "show off" a little by teaching them a few tricks? I`ve collected 10 of my favourite WinXP tricks, each of them easy to use, and very helpful, and if you follow the instructions step-by-step, they work perfectly. So here goes:

Top Tip #1:

Having a problem making your desktop icons stay exactly where you put them?

When you temporarily change your desktop to a lower resolution—for example whilst using Safe mode, Windows can wreak havoc with your careful positioning of desktop icons.

Right click your desktop click arrange icons and uncheck auto arrange. You can now drag & drop them wherever you want them. Note that if you start your computer in SAFE mode you will have to rearange them again.

Top Tip #2:

Accidentally moved your taskbar and want it back where it was?

Point your mouse to a 'blank' area inside the taskbar, THEN hold down your left mouse button, and DRAG it down where you want it to go. It may take a couple of tries to get it over.

Top Tip #3:

Feel like changing your Start Menu?

(1) Right click a blank spot on the Start Menu.
(2) Select Properties
(3) Select Customize
(4) Select the Advanced tab.

Most of those preset items which don't have the option to check or uncheck will be there. For each item listed you'll have the option to Display as link or Display as menu or Don't display this item. Make your selection as you desire. Note that you will have the option to display the Control Panel as a menu, which you might find very useful.

Top Tip #4:

Getting grey popup boxes with ads in? Stop the spam like this:

(1) Select "Start"
(2) Select "Settings"
(3) Choose "Control Panel"
(4) Choose "Administrative Tools"
(5) Choose "Services"
(6) Right-click on "Messenger"
(7) Select "Stop"
To permanently disable Messenger:
(8) Right click "Messenger"
(9) Select "Properties"
(10) Change "Startup Type" to "Disabled" and click "OK"

Top Tip #5:

Having problems viewing sites cos your computer isn`t accepting the cookies?

Open a New Browser window.

(1) Click on Tools (in toolbar).
(2) Click on Internet Options.
(3) Click on Privacy.
(4) Click on Advanced.
(5) Click on Override Cookie Control.
(6) Click on Enable First Party Cookies.
(7) Click on Enable Session Cookies.
(8) Click OK.

Top Tip #6:

Want to change how you see your emails? Try this:

Click on "view" at top. "Layout" will allow you to fix what you see. "Sort by" will let you arrange the order the messages appear in.

Top Tip #7:

Want to disable the Automatic Update reminders in Windows?

Open Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab, under "Browsing" take the checkmark out of "Automatically check for Internet Explorer Updates", click Apply, click OK.

Another thing to try is to:

(1) Click Start
(2) Click Run
(3) Type in: "MSCONFIG" (without the quotes)
(4) Click OK.
(5) Under the Startup tab take the checkmark out of "Critical Updates"
(6) Click Apply
(7) Click OK
(8) Restart your computer.

Top Tip #8:

Got too many icons on your desktop?

Right click on an empty space on your desktop, highlight "Arrange Icons By", the click on Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard

Top Tip #9:

Tired of seeing your pointer as an arrow or an hourglass all the time? Windows XP offers a number of alternative pointer schemes, such as Dinosaur, Ocean and Sports.

Open the Control Panel, double-click Mouse, and select the Pointers tab. (If you start in Category view, select Appearance and Themes, then click Mouse Pointers under "See Also.") Next to Schemes, click the down arrow and select a scheme to preview its pointers. Click OK to apply the scheme to your desktop. Simple as that.

Top Tip #10:

Want to hear your computer talk?
Select Start, Programs, Accessories, Accessibility, Narrator. Or press the Windows key plus the letter "U" to open the Utility Manager. Microsoft Narrator, an accessibility option designed to assist readers who are blind or have impaired vision, starts automatically.

Once you've read through the intro screen (or let the Narrator do it), click OK and you'll see a dialog box of Narrator options. Assuming you want to leave Narrator running, select the desired options, then minimize its dialog box. And if you've opened the Utility Manager, feel free to close it.

To turn Narrator off, click the Exit button or right-click its taskbar item and select Close.

Hope this has helped you get your WinXP working the way you want it to, and given you a little fun too. For more information like this, I highly recommend that you visit, read through, bookmark and re-visit this site:

Interviews Ebook Update

Just another quick update about the Real Life Marketers Interviews Volume II ebook

The book itself could be done anytime, but these interviews just keep coming :D
37 of them now and 16 case studies and still more to come, so it's getting big LOL. The case studies will definitely be in a small book of their own to accompany the main book as a bonus.

I still have a lot to do though, such as getting some ads written up, getting some covers etc, basic promo tools for jv partners (am willing to barter a copy of the finished book or something for any of those services, so if you know of anyone....)

Working on setting up the jv script now, using jv firesale automater, thank GOD I have a programmer for that one...

Unfortunately still no news on the rebrander updates.

The salespage is looking better than it was, still working on that too, but had plenty help from some good friends so it should be a good un. (http://annamarketing.com/int2.htm)

All interviewees will get a copy of the finished ebook for their own reading pleasure. JV partners will get a re-brandable version (name and main website at the top) plus a free copy of the book.

All interviewees will have the opportunity of being JV partners.

Will definitely keep you all updated on the progress though, so keep your eyes peeled

Calling All Internet Marketers, Semi Gurus and Mega Gurus! Can I Interview YOU?

Last year I did an interview ebook which I still give away for free. It was fun and a lot of people have really enjoyed it. I've now finally started on the 2nd Volume (which was always the plan).

If you would like to check out the ebook 'Real Life Marketer Interviews' you can download it here: http://annamarketing.com/dl/RLMI.V1.0.zip (Some names you may recognize, others you won't)

I'm looking for everyday marketers, semi gurus or even mega gurus who are making money online to participate in an interview for possible inclusion in this next volume.

I have a small 15 part, very informal questionnaire type interview which should only take up about an hour of your time. The interview will mostly be read by newbies hungry for tips and affirmation that they CAN make things work. There are also 3 questions for a Case Study

Please gimme a yell if you're interested. The more interviews I can get, the better I can make the book

Real Life Marketer Interviews Volume 2 is really coming along nicely now. I have received 21 completed interviews, 10 case studies and 12 pics so far. Also received one logo (you're allowed to send me a small logo instead of a pic if you're shy)

I've also set the deadline for completed interviews to be sent to me by 9th July. If anybody else want to take part, all you have to do is:

1. Be making money online
2. Be willing to offer tips and advice
3. Let your personality shine through
4. Send me a mail at admin at annamarketing dot com with 'Gimmie Interview' in the subject line
5. Get the completed interview to me by Sunday 9th July

Thanks

Product Review: FlyCatcherPro Free Survey Creator

Product Review: FlyCatcherPro Free Survey Creator
By Anna-Marie Stewart

I found something the other day called FlyCatcherPro. It's a site that lets you create surveys for use with your customers, your subscribers or your prospects. In fact, you can create a survey for just about anyone and it's totally FREE.

Here's a tiny bit of what it says on the site:

'You will get a full access to test as many markets you possibly can fit in to your schedule at the tiny price of $0.00, that's right it's totall FREE. Not FREE for the first five days. Not FREE for the first 30 days. It is totally FREE!!!'

So I tested it and found that it was EXTREMELY easy to use and practical. you can create as many questions as you like, with different answer options and it gives you 4 different 'template' pages, so you can choose how you want it to look.

I created a survey for my subscribers consisting of 20 questions, and it took me about half an hour to get it all set up and running (hey, so I type slow...). As soon as any of them complete the survey I get the results directly to my email inbox. When you login to your account it also tells you which surveys you have that are active/idle, how many people have responded, how many have completed the survey and works out the conversion rate of responded-completed.

Personally I am very technically challenged and like things to be plain and simple. I can honestly say I've never used anything THIS easy in all of my 7 years online. Absolutely Brilliant!

Check it out here: http://www.flycatcherpro.com

Trust and Credibility In Online Marketing

Trust and Credibility In Online Marketing
By Anna-Marie Stewart

Today I had an email from someone asking me if I could please look into a program for them and give me their honest opinion on whether it would be something worth promoting, or if I (as a seasoned marketer) would consider promoting, and asked for any feedback I could give.

Here's my reply:

Hi -name withheld-

Thanks for the trust, although you may not like what I'm about to say.

The site you sent me to isn't something I would consider recommending to people. First off, it's probably because I'm an old hand at the internet marketing thing, but more importantly because they contradict themselves. Wondering what I mean? Well, if you look at the page copy it says:

'We'll Prove It To You By Personally Building You The Exact Same Money Making Website That We Use For FREE, That Is GUARANTEED To Start Making YOU Money Within 24 Hours'
Ok, so they guarantee it so we'll look further down the page at the FTC compliant disclaimer and what does it say?

'As with any business, there is an inherent risk of loss of capital and there is no guarantee that you will earn any money.'

See what I mean? Ok, so now I have some questions for you: How long have you been with the program? Has it worked as promised so far? Is it something you can, hand on heart, honestly say you truly believe in?

I would suggest you think long and hard about your answers before you recruit people, as your name depends on trust. Internet marketing is hard work, and although it may not be easy to build up a good name it is really easy to get a bad name. always think of these things whatever you're promoting. The most important question no matter which program it is would be: am I willing to risk my name and credibility for this?

I'm not saying the program is no good, I've never personally tested it, but just giving you some ideas for future reference.

Hope this helps :)

Anna

--end reply--

As with anything I suggest that you do your due diligence and actually research whatever program you're thinking of joining. Test out the service, product or program as thoroughly as you can before you even think about promoting it. After all, should it turn out to be 'A Bad Egg' you surely don't want people bad-mouthing you because you happen to be the person that got them to join and waste their money.

Business Networking

Business Networking
By Anna-Marie Stewart

To do business successfully, you need to learn to network well with others. There’s lots of great info to be had for both online and offline networking, and there’s quite a few useful networking sites.

A few places to go for networking and contacts are:

http://www.ryze.com
http://www.ecademy.com
http://www.linkedin.com
http://www.adlandpro.com

Sites like these can be great for gaining contacts, business partners, joint venture partners, customers and friends etc., if you use them correctly.

I've joined just about all of them at one point or another (including more than I've listed here). Not all of them suit my needs, a few of them are even annoying but some of them are really good at the point in time when I need them.

The worst thing about places like these is that people seem to think of them as shortcuts. It's as if they think 'Ooooh! Tons of business people, I can promote EVERYTHING to them!'In reality that's not the way it works.

Take for example one that I joined a year or 2 ago, I won't name it, but it IS a good place apart from all the spam. I never actually used my membership until recently and as soon as I started using it I was bombarded with people requesting to be my friend.

While some of them are truly like-minded individuals, most of the requests were purely pitches for businesses of one type or another (mostly affiliate programs), and it's easy to see that a lot of the users haven't been doing business online very long.

What happens to the friend-requests that do nothing but pitch to me? They are either ignored or deleted. I haven't joined the program just to be spammed to death, I've joined purely to network with as many people as possible!

Networking is exactly what it says: Networking. Working together towards a common goal, and not bombarding each other with sales pitches in the very first contact.

If you're going to use networking sites it's really important to understand that you HAVE to build and nurture relationships to reap any rewards. If you're lucky you might make some sales or get some new recruits further down the line, but like everything else it's about creating relationships, mutual respect and gaining trust.

To all who are thinking about using networking sites like these: Stop! Think about what you want from the site, think about what you need. Think LONG TERM. Get to know the people you contact, post to their forums, their blogs or whatever other options the site gives you.

Always make meaningful contact and never, ever pitch in your first contact. Build up a rapport with your contacts. They may eventually feel comfortable enough to do business with you or sign up under you in programs etc. If you spam them, I'm sure most of them will be like me and either ignore you, block you or just plain and simple ignore you.

New Project In The Works

Wow, life online is getting busy again. I've started hunting down online marketers who are making money and asking them to participate in the new Real Life Marketer Interviews Volume II ebook. So far, from one thread in a forum this past week I've had 40 interested parties contact me which is pretty cool.

I've had 15 interviews completed and returned to me, and also 5 Case Studies. It's really shaping up good. I haven't set a deadline for it yet, but I have now got a jv script and a pdf rebrander. The script will be set up sometime this weekend, and I'm waiting on updates for the rebrander.

I also have to start working on the sales copy and some ads (will probably barter with someone for that lol) and also checking out some images etc for the cover.

Volume 1 is still free and really good, you'd do well to download it. Click here: Real Life Marketer Interviews It's a pdf in a zipfile, so you will need an unzip utility and a pdf reader (see sidebar links) Oh yeah, in the week that the thread has been up 129 people have downloaded the free Interviews ebook.

How To Get Past Email Filters

How To Get Past Email Filters
By Anna-Marie Stewart

Email is the most widely and commonly used medium in internet marketing and therefor extremely important to our business. If your email doesn't reach your subscriber/customer/jv partner you're not likely to get very far.

Email marketing can be a lot of hard work, especially as, according to the averages, people need to see your offer AT LEAST 7 times before they "bite". Be consistent, get your mails out there, but also be responsible. The last thing on earth anybody wants is to be accused of spam. Spam accusations can hurt both you AND the website/product/program you're promoting.

The delivery of email depends on which anti-spam tools are installed on a mail server. I know that some marketers face some problems with delivery to AOL, Hotmail and Yahoo!. Bounced emails from Hotmail and Yahoo! Are usually due to full email inboxes. At worst, your mails won’t even reach the inboxes due to inbuilt spam filters sending them directly to the junkmail folders of the recipients.

Spam filters, especially the ones pre-setup, are getting very hard to avoid. You could, plain and simple, refuse to accept subscribers using free email addresses such as Yahoo and Hotmail. I’ve been there, done that, and found it to be a rather extreme measure. (Although, at the time it WAS needed).

Adding this to a sendout has helped me lots in the past:

---start----

In an attempt to avoid you missing our mails, I’ve found some info on how to NOT have it filtered out.

To make sure that "newsletter name" e-mails aren’t filtered into your "junk" or "bulk" folder, please add us to your list of trusted senders. Here's how:

Hotmail: Put our domain: "whatever.com" into your safe list. The safe list can be accessed via the "Options" link next to the main menu tabs.

Yahoo! Mail: If any of our emails get filtered to your 'bulk' folder, open the message and click on the "this is not Spam" link next to the "From" field.

Other providers: If your "newsletter name" mail is being filtered, try adding our domain from our emails 'From' or 'Reply-to' addresses to your address book or contact list. If this option is not available, try moving the message to your 'inbox' or forwarding the message to yourself.

If subsequent messages continue to be filtered, call or e-mail your ISP's tech support and specifically ask how you can be sure to receive all e-mail from us. Follow their instructions for white listing "newsletter name".

I also found this little snippet of (techie) info a while later which may help even more:

When delivering to AOL email addresses you need to make sure your SMTP service's domain can be verified using a reverse DNS lookup. For more information on this topic check out:

I've gathered together a few sites that I find very helpful when I’m writing my ezine, and sending mails to safelists etc. It`s quite amazing to see what actually sets spam filters off. Take some time to go through it all. Bookmark the sites. If you’ve ever wondered if your mail is getting through, you can easily check, just by looking for the trigger words.

Here are a few sites/articles that show you some of the words that are considered to be spam triggers:
The 3 first ones are 2 or 3 years old, but I'm pretty sure they’re still quite accurate:

This one's for the Microsoft junk mail filter:

This one I absolutely love. It's real fast, gives you a quick review of your mail onsite, and sends you an email with more information. I use it every time I send out a "marketing" email of any kind. It's most definitely one of the best "spam" checkers I've found.
